Before you commit to the long-haul…

Here are a few of the most common questions potential drivers ask during the interview process. We’ve done our best to provide the most transparent answers about our company, our culture and our opportunities.

How much home time do you offer?

We understand the need for a great home time and work balance. We separate home time into two categories: resets and requested leave. We try our best to give all drivers their 34-hour reset at home. Leave time (time off requested) will typically be granted based upon PTP leave-request guidelines.

What is the average CPM (cents per mile)? How much do you pay experienced drivers?

We reward drivers for the experience that they bring to the table. Our experienced driver pay scale is reviewed annually to make sure that it is competitive with the current market standards. Typically, driver pay is determined by verifiable driving experience and MVR status.

What’s the average mileage for PTP Over-The-Road drivers?

Our objective is to get OTR drivers who are trying to get home weekly at least 2,200 miles per week, this is, however, primarily at the discretion of the driver. Our drivers have the opportunity to accumulate high mileage with at home resets. Multiple requests for leave time can impact the mileage drivers are able to accumulate.

The willingness of a driver to add an additional day to their trip and drive can often add 500+ miles to the driver’s paycheck. If a driver is in the northeast, we can easily get them to the Midwest and then home to the southeast. This is because, freight is more plentiful in the Midwest. By accepting an additional day, a driver has the opportunity to increase mileage and overall compensation.

Is this position local only?

No. We are currently hiring Over-the-Road (OTR) truck drivers, meaning they may not get back home every one to two days and will spend nights on the road.

Is it easy to get in touch with the person who assigns me loads?

The driver-manager relationships at PTP are rated as one of the top reasons for working for PTP by our drivers. They are easily accessible and know our drivers by name.

Is this team or solo driving?

We currently only hire solo drivers.

Do you hire students?

No. We require our drivers to have at least 3 years of experience and must be at least 23 years of age.

What type of haulers do PTP run?

Our drivers are primarily dry van. However, we do have some specialized trailers that are reefer.

Do you allow riders or pets?

No. At this time, we do not allow our drivers to have riders or pets.

Do you provide new and maintained equipment?

Yes, our drivers speak highly of our new and well-maintained equipment. Preventative maintenance is a priority of PTP.
