PTP Celebrates Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2025
PTP Celebrates Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2025
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is September 14-20, 2025. Originally organized by the American Trucking Association (ATA) in 1988, this annual event recognizes the men and women who keep our nation moving forward. This week celebrates professional truck drivers’ hard work, commitment and the crucial role they play in our economy.
Why Truck Driving is One of America’s Most Rewarding Careers
The trucking industry is essential to our economy. Drivers ensure that products move efficiently from manufacturers to distribution centers, retail shelves and consumers. Without them, businesses would face shortages and communities would lack essential resources. Truck driving also supports millions of jobs in logistics, warehousing and manufacturing, keeping our economy moving forward.
Three Truths About Truck Driving
The trucking industry is surrounded by misconceptions. Despite truck drivers’ critical role in daily life, stereotypes often surround them and the industry. When it comes to assumptions about who drivers are, how they live and how they are treated, we’re focused on the facts.
Women Behind the Wheel
Society often assumes all truck drivers are male, and that is not the case. According to the 2024-25 Women in Trucking Index, women make up nearly 9.5% of professional drivers. This number continues to grow, especially in younger and minority women. At PTP Transport, we value inclusivity and appreciate our female and male drivers.
Truck Drivers Get Time Off the Road
While truck drivers do spend much time on the road, many have options to take regional and local route jobs. At PTP Transport, home resets are possible through open communication, scheduling and following company guidelines, thus giving drivers more time at home with their families. Drivers also follow a schedule designed to ensure they are getting enough rest so they can do their job efficiently and safely.
Truck Drivers are Supported
Drivers are supported through dispatcher relationships, competitive pay and performance-based bonuses. At PTP, we value our drivers by offering:
- Health Insurance
- Sign-On Bonus
- Safety Bonus
- Driver Referral Bonus
- Paid Time Off
- Bereavement Pay
PTP wants to give a huge thank you to both our own drivers and every truck driver around the country. Their dedication, long hours and commitment keep our economy thriving. Today, take a moment to recognize and thank a truck driver.
