According to a 2024 study conducted by the Journal of Orthopedic Surgery and Research of 7,723 truck drivers worldwide, 53% reported experiencing lower back pain within the past 12 months. This common issue among truck drivers is often attributed to constant jarring on the road, poor posture and prolonged sitting, but you can do a couple of things to reduce this risk.
Causes of Lower Back Pain in Truck Drivers
Constant Jarring
Constant jarring is a significant cause of lower back pain in truck drivers. The vibrations experienced while driving on uneven or rough roads can lead to repetitive strain on the spine and surrounding muscles. As drivers spend long hours on the road, this repeated jarring can add up, making the lower back more painful.
Poor Posture

Spending long hours behind the wheel often leads to slouching or leaning forward, which puts extra pressure on the lower back muscles.
