PTP Transport Positions Itself as a Go to Regional and Local Driving Company Currently Seeking Regional Drivers in AL, FL, MS and LA
Trucking Industry Update
In a recent American Trucker article There are lots of drivers out there, but they’re finding work elsewhere, author Josh Fisher with the help of Avery Vise, VP of trucking for FTR Transportation Intelligence outlined the recent shift in driver employer preferences.
“The total supply of drivers might not be quite as tight as it might seem from news reports and anecdotal comments that you’ve maybe heard,” said Avery Vise, VP of trucking for FTR Transportation Intelligence. “Productivity remains very disruptive, as evidenced by the very strong summer. Put another way: It’s not so much that we don’t have enough drivers—it’s that they’re not where they need to be.”

About PTP
PTP Transport has a long history of providing quality transportation services. PTP Transport serves as the in-house transportation and logistics department for Young’s Plant Farm, a state-of-the-art plant farm, located in Auburn, AL. In 2017 PTP Transport opened to the for-hire, public freight needs. We offer competitive salaries, benefits, above average CPM, as well as educational and training opportunities for both regional and local shuttle driving positions.
Our company drivers spend two to three days on the road and then are home for a reset before heading out on another delivery route. Our drivers deliver a variety of goods from live plants grown by our parent company and those from our contact freight vendors. Our drivers know their families and we know our drivers.
Where are Drivers Going?
According to Vise, “Traditional truck drivers are shifting to other industries, such as parcel and local delivery, warehousing and storage, and home improvement stores, Vise said. “All of those have fully recovered and then some. That implies they are drawing workers from other segments. Local delivery is especially likely to be a competitor because fundamentally it’s the same job, but it’s free from federal regulation.”
To recruit those traditional truck drivers seeking new experiences, PTP has recently delivered our largest pay increase in company history, as well as revised our sign-on bonus plan.
